We are seeking a highly skilled and customer-focused individual to join our team as a Senior Information Services Assistant at Dakota County Library. This is a full-time position that requires regular evening and weekend shifts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide exceptional customer service to the public, responding to inquiries and resolving issues in a timely and professional manner.
  • Manage customer accounts, including creating and updating records, and collecting fines and fees.
  • Assist customers with the use of library facilities, equipment, and technology, including providing instruction and support as needed.
  • Facilitate the movement of materials, including unpacking and sorting delivery, unloading book return bins, and shelving library materials.
  • Work on specialized tasks, such as processing new materials, replacing barcodes and security tags, and assisting with library displays and promotions.
  • Attend training sessions as approved or assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements
  • Knowledge of email, word processing programs, and other software used in the library.
  • Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to demonstrate creativity, flexibility, and initiative in accommodating customer and staff needs.
  • Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing work environment.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and complete detailed work accurately and efficiently.
  • Ability to operate personal computers and other office equipment.
  • Ability to alphabetize and file.
  • Ability to push/pull heavy book carts and lift/move boxes.
  • Ability to provide explanation and instruction on library equipment and technology.
  • Ability to work with diverse customers from numerous cultural backgrounds.
  • Willingness to maintain flexibility in schedule and assignments.
Work Environment

This position is performed within a County library system. The successful candidate will be required to complete a physical exam as part of the pre-employment process.
