Role of Health and Safety Consultant

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead initiatives in health and safety, ensuring compliance with OSHA standards, conducting ISO 45001/OSHA VPP audits, performing risk assessments, and overseeing ergonomic evaluations and machine guarding assessments.
  • Provide expert health and safety consulting services by formulating procedures, delivering comprehensive training, executing detailed risk assessments, and preparing clear reports.
  • Ensure timely and accurate adherence to company policies regarding time tracking and expense reporting.
  • Stay informed on industry trends by engaging with professional associations, reviewing pertinent literature, networking, and presenting findings.

Qualifications:

  • 1-3 years of relevant experience in safety-focused roles.
  • Demonstrated experience as a safety trainer and consultant.
  • Proven ability to create and implement thorough safety training programs.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development in health and safety.
  • Strong collaborative skills with internal teams.
  • Ability to adapt and perform under tight deadlines and changing priorities.
  • Customer service-oriented with strong relationship-building capabilities.

Educational Background and Credentials:

  • OSHA 30 General Industry certification obtained within the last five years
  • OSHA 501 certification is highly preferred
  • Credentials from Board Certified Safety Professionals (CSP, ASP, OHST, SMS) are advantageous
  • A degree in a safety-related field is highly preferred
  • First Aid CPR AED certification is required; trainer certification is strongly preferred

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Capability to climb ladders.
  • Ability to stoop, crawl, and bend.
  • Capacity to lift up to 30 lbs.
  • Ability to drive for prolonged periods.
