Job Summary:

As a skilled Boat Mechanic, you will be responsible for performing complex repairs on damaged boats and propulsion systems using hand tools and power tools. You will diagnose watercraft failures and provide immediate and long-term corrective action, which may involve investigative and research techniques.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Diagnose boat and/or propulsion system failures and provide immediate and long-term corrective action.
  • Perform preventative maintenance work, including visual inspections, lubrication, fluid changes, filter changes, wiper blade replacements, and belt adjustments.
  • Requisition parts from the storeroom for materials needed to perform PMs and repairs.
  • Report all materials used in performance of repairs on work orders and document all labor used in performance of repairs on work orders.
  • Clean and sweep the shop.
  • Understand and actively participate in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established company policy, procedures, training, and team member involvement activities.
Scope:

Maintain all watercraft on property, including those powered by 2 or 4 stroke gasoline or propane powered outboard engines, inboard 2 or 4 stroke diesel or gasoline powered engines, or 2 or 4 stroke inboard/outboard gasoline or diesel engines.

May be responsible for some paint and body work to the hulls of watercraft.

Maintenance to all watercraft sub-systems, including but not limited to electrical, hydraulic, steering, and power transmission.

Requirements:
  • High school degree or GED is required.
  • Technical school certification is preferred.
  • 3+ years watercraft mechanic experience with diesel and gasoline propulsion systems required, and hull repair experience preferred.
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Certifications, Licenses, Registrations:

Valid Florida Driver's License required to operate company vehicles.
