Job Summary

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) will utilize the nursing process in a supervised, systematic approach to provide direct and indirect care to residents and their families in a long-term care setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide nursing care utilizing the components of the nursing process, ensuring a high level of quality and patient satisfaction.
  • Demonstrate effective interviewing and communication skills to obtain physical and psychosocial information from residents and their families, as directed by a Registered Nurse through the care planning process.
  • Enhance continuity of care by meeting assigned residents' physical and psychosocial needs, identifying changes and trends in resident status, and individualizing their care plan accordingly.
  • Ensure a secure and safe resident environment by practicing safety and infection control measures, providing treatments, medication administration, and using equipment appropriately.
  • Respond appropriately to emergency situations, demonstrating a high level of professionalism and composure.
  • Function as a positive role model in professional relationships and interactions, utilizing and sharing leadership skills appropriate to the role of a Licensed Practical Nurse within the nursing home.
  • Adhere to restorative care philosophy by incorporating principles into direct care provided to residents on a daily basis, ensuring quality resident care is delivered.
  • Assume accountability and responsibility for quality of resident care provided, demonstrating initiative and judgment.
Requirements
  • Minnesota Licensure as LPN
  • Basic Life Support/CPR certification
  • Must successfully complete a criminal background check as required by the State of Minnesota and a drug screening per Mille Lacs Health System policy
  • Knowledge of nursing principles, policies, procedures, and medical ethics equivalent to your level of practice and experience
  • Demonstrate ability to provide work direction to other staff (NAR's, TMA's, LPN's) and maintain their accountability
