Key Responsibilities

As the Lead Supply Chain Technician (Medical), you will oversee the Medical Supply Distribution (MSD) functions within the Logistics Service of the VA Health Care System. Your role will involve ensuring the efficient distribution of supplies and materials across all service areas managed by Logistics. This includes supervising the primary inventory point responsible for receiving, storing, and issuing supplies for both clinical and administrative departments.

Your responsibilities will encompass, but are not limited to:
  • Organizing and prioritizing tasks for team members; developing work schedules based on operational needs;
  • Providing guidance and support to staff regarding work-related issues;
  • Identifying and implementing strategies to enhance workflow efficiency;
  • Offering direction and assessing performance in complex situations;
  • Managing the distribution of supplies and materials, ensuring timely delivery and compliance with inventory protocols;
  • Overseeing the intake of supplies, ensuring proper storage and inventory management;
  • Conducting analysis to resolve challenges and improve operational effectiveness;
  • Researching new products and integrating them into the inventory management system;
  • Monitoring stock levels and ensuring availability of essential items;
  • Reviewing management reports to maintain budgetary compliance and identify trends;
  • Collaborating with vendors and internal stakeholders on logistics matters;
  • Coordinating with staff to implement policy or procedural changes effectively.
Work Schedule: Full-Time, Monday - Friday

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, you must possess:

One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-6 level in the Federal service, which includes: planning and coordinating work for a team; establishing departmental priorities; overseeing the receipt and distribution of supplies in a complex medical environment; maintaining inventory accuracy; training staff on procedures; resolving logistical challenges; and recommending improvements to enhance productivity and quality.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment: The work is primarily conducted in a supply office and distribution points, utilizing an automated inventory system for management and processing.
