Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Phlebotomist to join our team at Advocate Health. As a Phlebotomist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our laboratory services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Verify patient identification to ensure accurate specimen collection.
  • Assess patient reactions to specimen procurement and provide necessary assistance.
  • Collect blood and other specimens from patients of all ages, following established protocols.
  • Process specimens for testing, including aliquoting, pre-analytical steps, and loading instruments.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of specimen collection and testing.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, healthcare providers, and laboratory staff.
  • Participate in quality control checks and maintain a clean and safe work environment.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • No prior experience necessary, but phlebotomy or laboratory experience preferred.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to learn laboratory software.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Working Conditions

This position requires frequent lifting of up to 10 pounds and occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds. You will be exposed to human blood and body fluids and must wear appropriate personal protective equipment. You must be able to sit, stand, walk, and bend for extended periods.
