The Financial Patient Advisor is responsible for the registration of patients by obtaining necessary patient and insurance details; ensuring the accuracy and correctness of registration data; confirming insurance eligibility; collecting co-payments; and entering information into the designated systems.

The Financial Patient Advisor is committed to delivering exceptional customer service to patients of all ages, their families, visitors, medical personnel, clinicians, and colleagues, ensuring that everyone is treated with courtesy, efficiency, and respect.


The Financial Patient Advisor evaluates patient financial obligations through cost estimation, offering benefit education for both insured and uninsured patients, and assists patients in accessing financial aid and relevant public benefit options.

The Financial Patient Advisor processes patient payments, serves as a backup to the financial counselor/cashier when necessary, and reconciles accounts that are in an unbilled status.

Education Requirements:
High School Diploma or equivalent.

Preferred Education/Training:

Associate or bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or a closely related field from an accredited institution.

Experience Required:

A minimum of two years of experience that involves customer service skills and a patient/customer-centered approach.
Prior experience with computers, Microsoft Office software, and navigating the Internet.

Preferred Experience:

Previous experience in patient scheduling/registration within a healthcare environment.
Prior work experience in a healthcare setting with knowledge of medical terminology.
Experience with medical insurance processes.
Experience in appointment registration.

Independent Actions Required:

Must possess problem-solving skills and take appropriate actions when necessary to refer to external resources.
Ability to analyze financial data to determine required documents for application approval and/or to establish suitable payment arrangements.
Performs daily tasks with minimal supervision.
Functions independently to complete routine activities.
Immediately notifies the supervisor of any issues involving violations of policies or procedures.

Additional Position Requirements:

Incumbents may be required to work extended hours based on organizational needs.
Incumbents are considered essential personnel and are expected to report to work as scheduled.
Overtime, shift rotations, and/or weekend assignments may be required as needed.
