Position Overview:
As a Material Handling Technician at O-I, you will be responsible for managing the flow of domestic cullet (recycled glass) within the facility's basement area. This role requires a solid understanding of mechanical systems and the properties of various materials.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Adhere to all departmental and plant Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and safety policies.
  • Maintain and operate cullet shakers located in the basement.
  • Plan and execute tasks that necessitate a comprehensive knowledge of mechanical principles and the operation of equipment such as motors, conveyors, and other machinery.
  • Assist in receiving and unloading raw materials from transportation vehicles.
  • Support the unloading of foreign cullet sourced from vendors.
  • Collaborate with shift mechanics on significant repair tasks.
  • Transport cullet from the basement or other areas of the plant to designated storage locations. Operate machinery such as bobcats for moving batch materials or cullet as needed.
  • Utilize tools like sledgehammers to break down large blocks of molten glass for processing.
  • Load and transport various types of cullet to crushers or storage bins as required.
  • Maintain cleanliness in control rooms and ensure proper waste disposal practices are followed in the basement area.
