Job Summary

The Upper School World History Teacher serves as an Advisor, World History Educator, and guide for students at the respective grade level and subject area. This role requires a passionate and experienced educator who can create an engaging and inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Attend and participate in daily interactions with students and colleagues
  • Adhere to all school and division policies and procedures
  • Provide a structured and effective learning environment that meets the needs of diverse learners
  • Utilize instructional skills to analyze diagnostic testing and implement modifications and accommodations
  • Plan and deliver lessons that align with the curriculum guide and support new curricular programs
  • Maintain accurate records and complete reports in a timely manner
  • Communicate with students in a professional, calm, and supportive manner, serving as a student advocate
  • Collaborate with colleagues, new teachers, and non-teaching staff to achieve common goals
  • Communicate regularly with parents, responding to inquiries within 24 hours
  • Attend curriculum and staff meetings, parent conferences, and other training sessions
  • Complete professional development hours annually to enhance student learning and professional growth
  • Manage emergency situations, including fire drills, weather drills, and lockdown drills
  • Supervise students during transitions, including carpool, recess, lunch, and other duties as assigned
  • Support the mission of June Shelton School and Evaluation Center by promoting a positive school culture and community
Requirements and Qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience as an Upper School World History teacher
  • Bachelor's degree in World History or a related field; Master's degree preferred
  • Desire and enthusiasm to work with Upper School students
  • Experience working with students with learning differences
  • Proficiency in educational technology
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues
Work Environment

This role requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, interacting with students, colleagues, and parents. The successful candidate will be able to adapt to changing circumstances and prioritize tasks effectively.
