The Grants Specialist I position at Alabama State University is responsible for ensuring compliance with institutional and funding agency regulations. This includes maintaining files of all submitted grant applications, tracking submissions and grants during the implementation phase to closeout, and serving as a resource person in clarifying policies to achieve compliance. Additionally, the selected candidate will identify potential funding sources and provide technical pre- and post-award support to principal investigators, project directors, and grant specialists.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide technical support in the development, review, submission, tracking, awarding, set-up, and closeout of grant and contract proposals
Ensure adherence to university, sponsor, federal, and state compliance, laws, regulations, and policies governing funded projects
Refer faculty and staff to appropriate university committees related to research and sponsored projects as needed
Read and disseminate proposal information to faculty, staff, and administration
Assist in the development and review of grants, critique grants, and ensure endorsements are prepared and ready for signature by an authorized university representative
Requirements:
A Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, business administration, public administration, or a related field is required. Additionally, 2 years of experience administering grants or serving as a project coordinator and/or interfacing with faculty in a higher education setting are required. An understanding of compliance issues, ethics standards, and federal guidelines pertaining to higher education is also necessary.
