Job Title: Family Support Teacher

SENDCAA is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Family Support Teacher to join our team. As a Family Support Teacher, you will play a vital role in providing comprehensive early childhood education, health, nutrition, and parent involvement services to low-income children and their families.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach and care for a classroom of 15 children, implementing the Creative Curriculum for Preschool to fidelity.
  • Develop and implement daily, individualized written lesson plans, following curriculum studies from the Creative Curriculum for Preschool.
  • Conduct vision and hearing screenings, and make referrals as needed.
  • Assist families in establishing a primary health care provider and follow the EPSDT schedule to ensure each child is up to date on their well child exams, dental exams, and immunizations.
  • Facilitate scheduling dental exams, well child exams, and immunizations, and coordinate follow-ups/referrals as needed.
  • Collect and record child observations regularly, and complete necessary assessments and reports.
  • Participate in implementation of Individualized Education Plans (IEP), as appropriate.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field, with experience teaching preschool-age children.
  • CPR and First Aid Training, within 3 months of hire.
  • Complete the Interrater Reliability Training, within 3 months of hire.
  • Complete Mandated Reporting Interactive Training, within 1 month of hire.

Working Conditions and Environment:

While performing the duties of this position, the individual generally has good working conditions. The employee is often exposed to moderate noise from children.

Physical Requirements/Activities:

While performing the duties of this position, the individual is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, balance, kneel, bend, stoop, crouch, reach with hands and arms, and use hands to finger, handle, feel and use equipment/materials, push, pull, lift, twist, grip, and communicate (talk and hear). Intermittently, the employee is required to climb, jump and crawl.
