Job Summary

This position is responsible for preparing and cooking a wide variety of foods for patients, employees, and guests in a hospital setting. The Dietary Cook will perform a range of tasks, including food preparation, cooking, and presentation, while maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and sanitation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and cook entrees, side dishes, and desserts according to standardized recipes and menus.
  • Monitor and maintain food temperatures, storage, and handling procedures to ensure food safety.
  • Assist with meal planning, preparation, and presentation, including setting up and cleaning equipment and utensils.
  • Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure efficient food preparation and service.
  • Document and record food preparation, storage, and serving procedures, as well as maintain accurate logs and records.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Training in institutional food preparation or equivalent demonstrable knowledge and skills.
  • Previous experience in a long-term care or hospital setting preferred.
  • Knowledge of cooking methods and procedures, including various types of preparation and related routines.
  • Familiarity with kitchen equipment and sanitation procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Related field or equivalent work experience in cooking.
  • Minimum of 1 year of previous experience in a long-term care or hospital setting.
  • ServSafe certification or ability to become certified within 1st year of employment.
