Job Overview

The Cybersecurity Specialist plays a crucial role within the Security team, contributing to the design, execution, and oversight of security protocols to safeguard company resources. This position requires a blend of foundational knowledge and advanced skills, with hands-on experience in security operations, incident management, and proactive threat detection. The role is essential in enhancing security practices, establishing standards, and promoting a culture of security awareness throughout the organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in designing, implementing, and maintaining security frameworks to protect organizational assets, data, and personnel, ensuring adherence to established security guidelines.
  • Engage in the analysis of system logs, event data, and other pertinent information to identify and assess suspicious activities, aiding in effective threat detection and mitigation strategies.
  • Support the resolution and management of security and network challenges, responding swiftly to security incidents to minimize operational disruptions.
  • Implement and uphold necessary security measures to safeguard the organization’s data and infrastructure, ensuring compliance with security policies and protocols.
  • Conduct security assessments across network systems, applications, and third-party services to identify vulnerabilities, collaborating with senior team members to address and remediate these vulnerabilities as part of an ongoing security evaluation process.
  • Participate in daily security operations, including administrative duties, reporting, and teamwork with cross-functional groups to foster a cooperative security environment.
  • Engage in proactive threat detection initiatives to uncover and investigate suspicious activities, providing support for confirmed security incidents with comprehensive response plans.
  • Contribute to the development and enhancement of security standards and best practices, advising management on the evolution of corporate security policies.
  • Stay informed about the latest trends, threats, and technologies in the security landscape, demonstrating flexibility to adapt to changing security needs and organizational requirements.
Qualifications and Skills
  • 2-4 years of experience in an Information Security capacity, with a solid grasp of security protocols, cryptography, authentication, and authorization mechanisms.
  • Proficiency in security and system monitoring tools, along with a foundational understanding of networking technologies.
  • Familiarity with web technologies (Web applications, Web Services, Service-Oriented Architectures) and network/web protocols.
  • Hands-on experience with various security technologies, including cloud services, malware protection, identity management, and SIEM, as well as knowledge of incident response and risk assessment methodologies.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to perform effectively under pressure, demonstrating a commitment to ongoing learning and professional growth.
  • Capability to provide advanced support, showcasing adaptability to new technologies and evolving business needs.
  • Relevant certifications such as SANS, CompTIA Security+, or Networking certification are preferred but not mandatory.
  • Experience with emerging security technologies, including AI-driven threat detection, automated security orchestration, and advanced endpoint protection.
  • Familiarity with compliance frameworks and regulations such as GDPR, HIPAA, SOX, and PCI-DSS.
  • Proficiency in scripting or programming languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) for automating security tasks and incident response processes is preferred but not required.
  • Understanding of software-defined networking solutions, including Wireless Access Points, Switches, and VPNs.
