Dental Department Manager

The Dental Clinic Manager will oversee the daily operations of the dental department, ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care and services. This role requires strong leadership and management skills, as well as the ability to collaborate with the Department Chair and Clinic Director to improve services and patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
• Evaluate the quality and effectiveness of dental practice operations and implement improvements in collaboration with the Department Chair.
• Collaborate with the Clinic Director and/or Department Chair to support and coordinate patient flow and care delivery.
• Coordinate and monitor the provision of safe and effective clinical support practices that meet the needs of patients and their families.
• Communicate effectively with team members to resolve conflicts and problems, promoting a cohesive multidisciplinary team environment.
• Identify learning needs of dental assistants and work with the Clinic Director and/or Department Chair to develop plans for individual associates and/or the department as warranted.
• Maintain clinical knowledge and competence, demonstrating leadership through professional development.
• Supervise and evaluate clinical support staff, including annual performance reviews, employment actions, training, and scheduling.
• Ensure the implementation and administration of policies and procedures of the dental department and the health center, meeting documentation and reporting deadlines as directed.
• Manage inventory of clinic supplies, including ordering and verifying supplies received following established protocols.
• Periodically evaluate patient satisfaction in coordination with the Clinic Director, responding to and addressing all patients' complaints in collaboration with the Department Chair within established health center guidelines.
• Establish processes and systems to monitor, prevent, and eliminate clinical risk exposure in the dental department, promoting and ensuring infection control standards are maintained.
• Lead and encourage continuous quality improvement activities within Dental Services.
• Perform all duties that any other dental auxiliary is authorized to perform, including charting, taking and processing radiographs, and performing expanded functions approved by state law.
• Other duties as may be assigned.
Qualifications and Experience
• Minimum of five years in the dental industry, preferably in a general dental practice setting.
• One or more years of experience in management/leadership and clinic administration experience.
• Knowledge of best practices in dental practice management, including delivery of quality, comprehensive, and efficient dental care.
• Basic knowledge of dental supplies and ordering/management of such supplies.
• Proficient in the use of MS Office products and experience with Electronic Medical Record systems.
• Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and emergency situations successfully.
• Supervisory skills that support team building, a positive work environment, and support of the organization's mission.
