Position Summary:
The Field Service Technician is responsible for diagnosing and executing mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic repairs in a field environment. This role involves assembling equipment for LMC and its clientele, ensuring high standards of service and quality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Travel to designated customer sites for service tasks.
- Inspect, diagnose, and troubleshoot mechanical issues on heavy or light equipment as directed.
- Utilize diagnostic tools effectively.
- Conduct both minor and complex repairs, including identifying needs for major powertrain overhauls.
- Prepare cost analyses for necessary parts and services.
- Repair or replace components of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, air conditioning, electrical systems, and more to restore equipment functionality.
- Interpret technical documents, schematics, and manuals.
- Perform welding, brazing, and fabrication of parts and structures as required.
- Communicate progress and issues to the Service Manager.
- Complete all job-related documentation accurately and promptly.
- Maintain knowledge of products and technology through ongoing education.
- Ensure all company tools and equipment are kept in good working order.
- Assist in quality control and maintain cleanliness and safety in the workspace.
- Adhere to safety protocols and contribute to a safe working environment.
- Foster positive relationships with customers, vendors, and colleagues.
Work Environment:
This position requires working in various conditions, including exposure to moving mechanical parts, inclement weather, dust, and moderate noise levels.
Qualifications:
- Strong mechanical aptitude.
- Willingness to work in diverse weather conditions.
- Possession of personal tools is required.
- Ability to operate a forklift.
- Other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to perform essential job functions, including moving about the worksite.
- Capability to operate a commercial vehicle with appropriate licensing.
- Regularly lift up to 20 lbs and frequently lift up to 50 lbs.
- Push or pull up to 100 lbs with assistance.
- Stand for extended periods and perform various physical tasks.
- Utilize appropriate safety equipment as necessary.
