FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

The main duty of this role is to strategize, oversee, and assess the quality assurance program within the Foundry. This may involve the oversight of the metallurgical laboratory when required. The incumbent is accountable for the implementation and upkeep of quality and process control systems, ensuring the integrity and certification of all metal produced at First Brands Group, LLC. A close collaboration with Operations and Technical Services management is essential. The role also requires establishing and nurturing relationships with all Foundry Division clients to address their concerns and quality-related issues.

Lead, mentor, and develop team members; continuously monitor and refine quality control protocols.

Ensure that quality systems are up-to-date and compliant with industry standards.

Investigate and propose methods and processes to enhance all facets of quality and cost efficiency across the Division.

Maintain the process control program along with all quality-related documentation.

Organize and conduct supervisors' quality meetings as well as internal audits.

Oversee the incoming material inspection program and vendor certification processes.

Additional responsibilities as assigned.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The work environment includes general shop and machine tool noise, along with exposure to dirt, grease, and coolants from machinery operations. The typical working position involves standing or walking throughout the facility. Some repetitive lifting and moving tasks may be required, with weights ranging from 5 to 50 lbs, necessitating proper lifting techniques.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

In addition to the essential knowledge, skills, and abilities of a Quality Engineer:

Familiarity with ISO/Quality systems and Foundry processes.

Strong verbal and written communication and negotiation skills.

Ability to interpret casting blueprints.

Proficient problem-solving abilities.

Understanding of pressurized gating systems.

Capability to foster an effective team environment.

Experience with Six Sigma methodologies is advantageous.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE

A Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification.

A minimum of 5 years of experience in a quality control manufacturing environment, particularly within a high-volume ferrous green sand foundry.
