Location:
We are primarily seeking candidates who can work onsite. However, we are open to considering well-qualified candidates for remote work arrangements.
The selected individual will oversee packaging development initiatives from conception to production (launch). These initiatives will involve both enhancements to existing product packaging and the creation of packaging for new offerings.
The individual will be responsible for ensuring that their packaging projects align with quality standards and consumer expectations while adhering to project timelines.
With limited supervision from management, the individual will collaborate closely with teams in quality assurance, finance, procurement, regulatory compliance, engineering, operations, consultants, and external vendors.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Packaging Development Across Various Materials:
fiberboard, corrugated materials, plastics, films
Manage projects with comprehensive scope from primary to tertiary packaging development
Approval of specifications and Bills of Materials (BOMs)
Creation and execution of testing plans and documentation
Development and maintenance of project timelines
Completion of qualification processes for new packaging designs and materials
Implementation of cost-saving initiatives related to packaging designs and materials
Travel to vendor and manufacturing sites to support packaging project activities
Conduct hands-on evaluations of packaging to ensure compliance with project specifications. These evaluations may take place in warehouses and packaging laboratories.
CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS:
The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience in packaging development, with a preference for those who have worked in the consumer goods sector.
A Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering or Mechanical Engineering, along with significant experience in packaging engineering or development, is required.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential.Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities are necessary.
The candidate should demonstrate leadership qualities and the ability to function effectively as part of a team.
Preferred experience includes knowledge in some or all of the following areas: Development of primary to tertiary packaging for new product launches
Coordination and execution of qualifications for new packaging designs and materials
Development of component specifications
Basic understanding of various packaging materials and conversion methods:
Corrugated containers
Folding cartons (solid fiberboard)
Plastic bottles
Flexible packaging
Thermoformed packaging
Injection molding
Familiarity with SAP and PLM systems is advantageous.
