Vulcan Industries is seeking an Environmental Health and Safety Compliance Specialist to enhance safety awareness and maintain our exemplary safety record. This role will oversee all safety and environmental initiatives, including conducting inspections and audits, identifying hazards, and developing solutions for safety and environmental challenges.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Conduct and maintain comprehensive employee safety training programs.
  • Perform inspections and audits to identify potential hazards.
  • Coordinate and monitor the audit program effectively.
  • Maintain records of safety programs as mandated by law and internal policies.
  • Train personnel on Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
  • Facilitate training sessions on safety and health topics, as well as conduct incident investigations when necessary.
  • Generate monthly reports on safety and environmental data.
  • Lead emergency response initiatives and address employee concerns regarding Environmental, Health, and Safety.
  • Establish a system for tracking near misses and safety violations.
  • Chair safety committee meetings and conduct monthly discussions.
  • Ensure safety talks are current and accessible.
  • Document safety programs by creating, revising, and maintaining work instructions, procedures, and visual aids.
  • Support production and operations by being actively present on the floor and overseeing daily activities.
  • Inspect equipment and machinery to identify unsafe conditions.
QUALIFICATIONS

Basic Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a manufacturing setting.
  • At least 2 years in a safety leadership role.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong facilitation abilities.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Proficient in identifying safety and environmental deficiencies and their root causes.
  • Capability to resolve complex issues.
  • Familiarity with OSHA regulations.
  • Advanced Excel skills with the ability to create detailed spreadsheets.
  • Confident public speaking skills.
  • Strategic thinking aptitude.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Safety Science/Engineering, Industrial Safety, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • One year of experience in an environmental leadership role.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT

  • Indoor plant environment, not climate-controlled, requiring prolonged walking and standing.
  • Vision capabilities necessary for data entry and validation on computers.
  • Flexible shift schedules, including early mornings and evenings.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Extended periods of walking and standing.
