About the RoleThis is a full-time position that requires minimal supervision. The successful candidate will work closely with physicians to perform ultrasound imaging exams, exam protocols, accreditation, operations, and equipment maintenance.
Responsibilities- Maintain a clean and orderly work area, ensuring proper supplies for procedures.
- Check equipment and accessories for proper working order and notify appropriate personnel for repairs.
- Respond to inquiries and calls regarding procedures in a timely manner.
- Communicate problems on shift with equipment or pending exams with appropriate staff.
- Engage in equitable distribution of departmental workloads.
- Participate in learning experiences with new employees and students.
- Perform quality control on assigned equipment and report issues timely.
- Attend departmental and facility meetings/classes.
- Complete required courses/modules on time.
- Perform pertinent duties in the best interest of patients, personnel, and the facility.
- Adhere to departmental time, attendance, and tardiness guidelines.
- Wear employee ID and follow dress code policy.
- Assume supervisory responsibilities in the absence of the designated supervisor.
- Participate in all regulatory compliance activities.
Verify patient identification using two patient identifiers as outlined in hospital policies. Communicate with patients clearly and professionally. Ensure proper patient preparation, verify screening protocols, and answer questions. Evaluate patient history and symptoms for procedure clinical criteria. Instruct/communicate with patient and/or patient's family (as appropriate) regarding the tests to be performed and assess patient's ability to tolerate exam.
Exam PerformancePerform color duplex imaging procedures, including carotid, extremity venous and arterial studies, abdominal Doppler, small parts, OB/GYN, general abdominal/body, or other tests as assigned. Verify requisition/chart for valid written order, priority date, ordering comments, physician's notes, precautions, and patient consent forms. Perform high-quality US examinations according to exam protocol in a timely manner. Assist physician as needed in performing additional imaging or biopsy procedures. Ensure images and records are properly completed with patient identification data and appropriate labeling.
Requirements- Associate's Degree in Ultrasound Technology or equivalent.
- Licenses and Certifications: ARDMS (American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers), RVT (Registered Vascular Technologist), and BLS (Basic Life Support) Certification.
- Preferred: Bachelor's Degree and 2 years of experience in ultrasound.
