Job Summary

The Cardiac Sonographer II performs advanced cardiac ultrasound services and procedures for adult patients, utilizing a variety of equipment and techniques to diagnose and assess cardiac abnormalities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare patients for procedures and obtain clinical history to adapt imaging techniques for comprehensive and diagnostic echocardiograms.
  • Perform basic to advanced cardiac ultrasound procedures, making necessary measurements for accurate results.
  • Identify and define cardiac abnormalities, extending the scope of the examination as needed.
  • Assist physicians in procedure rooms and operating rooms with echocardiograph studies to aid in complex procedures.
  • Record statistics and perform daily maintenance of the Echocardiography Lab and its equipment.
  • Act as a resource to staff, physicians, and students regarding equipment, techniques, and procedures to optimize patient care.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited program or 2 years of work experience above the minimum qualification.
  • Less than 1 year of experience.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire or transfer.
  • Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) or Reg Diag Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) certification through Cardio Credentialing Intl. (CCI) or American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS).
