Job Summary:

UTMB Health seeks a skilled Advanced Practice Provider to join our team in a correctional setting. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide high-quality patient care, collaborate with physicians, and work under approved protocols to ensure the best possible outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Obtain medical histories, perform physical examinations, and suggest relevant laboratory or radiographic studies to establish or support a diagnosis.
  • Formulate and order therapeutic regimens for treatment of pathologic states or disabling entities, ensuring proper documentation and classification of patients.
  • Monitor treatment progress, counsel patients on preventive medicine regimens, and review medical records to ensure proper content and appropriateness of medical regimens.
  • Provide patient counseling and health instruction on medical problems, nutrition, medication, and principles of health promotion and maintenance.
  • Serve as a representative and emissary of the physician in delegated matters, coordinating interdisciplinary care and clinical responsibilities.
  • Document all healthcare encounters and relevant clinical information in the electronic medical records.

Requirements:

  • Completion of a physician assistant program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) or a graduate-level nurse practitioner program accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
  • Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) or the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP).
  • Licensed Physician Assistant by the Texas Physician Assistant Board/Texas Medical Board (TPAB/TMB) or Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) and Licensed Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in a nurse practitioner clinical area of specialization by the Texas Board of Nursing (TBON).

Work Environment:

Standard hospital, clinical, correctional, and/or surgical environment. Security clearance is required, and pre-employment drug testing is also required.

Salary:

Salary is commensurate with years of relevant work experience.
