Financial Compliance Specialist

Key Responsibilities:


The Payroll Accountant will be responsible for reviewing timecards for compliance with company policy, federal/state regulations and processing payroll to include analyzing and reconciling payroll records.


Payroll Process Expertise:


This role will include calculating and processing voluntary deductions and involuntary deductions such as levies and garnishments while ensuring compliance of state/federal requirements.


Tax Compliance:


The Payroll Accountant will also be responsible for preparing and processing weekly, semimonthly, monthly, and quarterly tax payments and tax returns for multiple states while ensuring compliance.


Financial Reporting:


Additionally, this role will involve preparing and processing month end journal entries and account reconciliations.


Benefits and 401K:


The Payroll Accountant will calculate and maintain Health & Welfare in accordance with Service Contract Act/wage determination and prepare/reconcile complex month/year end reporting requirements for benefits and 401K.


Year End Requirements:


This role will also involve preparing and reconciling year end requirements such as W-2 and state/federal filings.


Accounting Support:


The Payroll Accountant will assist higher level accountants with accounting assignments and maintain accurate/detailed financial records.


Time Management:


The ideal candidate will be able to work successfully and meet deadlines under pressure, and effectively prioritize and manage time and workload.


Requirements:



  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration or related field
  • 2 - 5 years related experience to include payroll processing and payroll tax filing
  • Knowledge of full lifecycle of payroll process
  • Proficient knowledge of desktop applications including word processing and Excel
  • US Citizenship required; must be able to successfully pass criminal background check prior to start date
  • Must be capable of maintaining strict confidentiality of sensitive employee and company information at all times
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required

Preferred Qualifications:



  • Experience in Deltek Costpoint and Time & Expense
  • Accounting majors highly desired
  • Experience performing moderately complex payroll accounting tasks for a government contractor
