Job Title: Coach - Youth Sports Program

BronxWorks is seeking a dedicated and experienced Coach to lead our Youth Sports Program. As a Coach, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the program, including developing and implementing practice schedules, recruiting and retaining team members, and monitoring academic performance.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement practice schedules to provide individual and team development
  • Recruit and retain team members, ensuring a positive and inclusive team environment
  • Monitor academic performance of team members to ensure eligibility requirements are met
  • Follow established procedures in the event of an athlete's injury
  • Confer with parents/guardians regarding athletic performance
  • Follow state, regional, and district regulations governing the athletics program
  • Model sports-like behavior and maintain appropriate conduct towards players, officials, and spectators
  • Organize, plan, and conduct practices, games, and tournaments
  • Work directly with DYCD as a liaison for BronxWorks
  • Coordinate with the Program Coordinator and Program Director to provide accurate data for game scores and individual/team accomplishments
  • Participate in the development of the whole student, regarding individual well-being and life skills
  • Represent the program with the highest level of professionalism, sportsmanship, and integrity
  • Foster and maintain a culture that demonstrates a commitment to compliance with all leagues, DYCD, and BronxWorks rules and regulations
  • Foster and maintain a culture that demonstrates a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, as well as trust and mutual respect
  • Participate in special activities, including parents' night, banquets, awards nights, and pep assemblies
  • Interact in a positive manner with staff, students, and parents
  • Promote good public relations by personal appearance, hygiene, attitude, and conversation
Qualifications:
  • 1-2 years experience minimum in coaching sports to youth ages 11-24
  • High School Diploma or Associates Degree in Sports Management
  • Vast knowledge of sports landscape
  • Understanding of sports played at high school to collegiate level
  • Ability to use video conferencing platforms
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to use a computer for prolonged periods
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds
  • Ability to stand, walk, or sit for long periods of time
  • Ability to bend and retrieve objects and/or documents
  • Ability to travel in the boroughs of New York City and its adjacent counties via public transportation
  • Ability to travel for a minimum of 1 mile within a reasonable amount of time and in all types of weather, including inclement weather, if required to conduct home visits and/or field work
