Job Summary
The Public Health Trust of Dade Co is seeking a skilled Cook 1 to join our team in a part-time capacity with benefits. As a key member of our food service team, you will be responsible for preparing and serving high-quality meals to patients, retail customers, and special function attendees.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook a variety of menu items, including grill items and batch quantities, to meet the needs of our food service lines and schedules.
- Handle food in accordance with sanitary standards, ensuring the highest level of food safety and quality.
- Prepare food for patients as specified in their meal tickets, presenting items attractively with garnish and correct portion sizes.
- Interview patients and/or family members to obtain necessary account information, registering patients at the workstation or bedside as needed.
- Participate in daily temperature and taste panels to ensure quality and consistency in our food products.
- Follow standardized recipes, production sheets, and portion control standards to prevent food waste and ensure high-quality products.
- Provide excellent customer service, greeting customers in a courteous and sincere manner at all times.
- Operate various standard cooking equipment, reporting any equipment problems promptly to management.
- Participate in the cleaning of kitchen equipment, refrigerator, storerooms, and dining areas to meet sanitation standards.
- Utilize overproduction properly, serving and portioning food as assigned.
- Maintain a clean, neat, and orderly work area, properly storing all food items after use.
Requirements
- 0-3 years of related experience in a food service or culinary role.
- High School diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
- Ability to analyze, organize, and prioritize work accurately while meeting multiple deadlines.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to handle difficult and stressful situations.
- Knowledge and skill in the use of job-appropriate technology and software applications.
Working Conditions
- Extended walking or standing required, with the ability to climb stairs/ladder, stoop, bend, crawl, and perform repetitive motions as needed.
- Ability to carry objects weighing 21-50 pounds and lift, push, or pull objects weighing 51-100 pounds with the use of appropriate devices.
- Visual acuity to perform job-related activities, including operating machines or motor vehicles and performing mechanical or skilled trades tasks.
