Job Summary:

The City of Houston is seeking a skilled Maintenance Mechanic II to join its Facilities Maintenance & Development team. As a key member of the Plumbing/Pools team, you will be responsible for performing routine maintenance activities to ensure the cleanliness and safety of equipment and facilities in the Parks and Recreation department.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Inspect and repair pumps, motors, plumbing, fountains, and drains for the water distribution systems for the city's swimming pools and water plays.
  • Troubleshoot equipment and make recommendations for repairs.
  • Maintain records of maintenance and repair work performed.
  • Work in a fast-paced environment with frequent exposure to heat, cold, moisture, and air pollution.
  • Perform physical tasks such as climbing ladders, lifting heavy equipment/objects, and working in confined spaces.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma/GED and 18 months of specialized training in a specific area or trade.
  • 6 months of experience in building or mechanical maintenance.
  • Valid driver's license and compliance with the City of Houston's policy on driving.
  • Ability to work evening, weekend, and holiday shifts as needed.
