Position Overview
The Float Pool Nurse plays a vital role in delivering high-quality nursing care across various departments. This position requires a keen ability to identify and differentiate between physical and psychosocial signs and symptoms, ensuring effective therapeutic interventions are implemented for assigned patients.
Key Responsibilities
1. Assess and recognize physical and psychosocial indicators in patients, implementing necessary therapeutic measures.
2. Develop, execute, and continuously assess individualized nursing care plans for patients.
3. Maintain accurate records of nursing care plans and progress notes to ensure seamless continuity of care.
4. Communicate patient responses and updates to relevant health team members.
5. Collaborate with interdisciplinary health team members to create comprehensive patient care strategies.
6. Delegate nursing tasks appropriately to allied nursing personnel.
7. Provide mentorship and guidance to allied nursing staff in delivering patient care.
8. Engage in defining, implementing, and upholding nursing practice standards.
9. Participate in departmental and interdisciplinary meetings to discuss policies and procedures impacting nursing practice.
10. Contribute to the identification of conditions, resources, and policies essential for effective nursing care delivery.
11. Assist in the development and maintenance of evaluation systems for nursing care and practices, including staff evaluation.
12. Communicate the philosophy and objectives of the agency and Nursing Department to patients, families, and other stakeholders.
13. Maintain professional growth through ongoing education and relevant learning experiences.
14. Undertake additional professional nursing duties as assigned by nursing administration.
Minimum Qualifications
1. A valid New York State license and current registration as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State.
2. A minimum of one (1) year of clinical nursing experience in the relevant specialty area.
3. Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association (AHA).
