Facilities Maintenance Lead

POSITION OVERVIEW
The Facilities Maintenance Lead is tasked with overseeing all maintenance operations related to production and facility management. This role is pivotal in supporting the growth of new products and business lines through effective process engineering and equipment selection. Collaborating closely with production departments, the Maintenance Lead ensures that all equipment is maintained efficiently to minimize unscheduled downtimes while adhering to strict audit standards.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee timely and effective preventive maintenance and repairs of production and processing equipment, striving to minimize downtime and enhance cost-efficiency.
- Develop and monitor annual maintenance budgets to ensure departmental objectives are met while achieving financial goals.
- Recognize the significance of plant and equipment performance in business operations, prioritizing maintenance tasks accordingly.
- Recruit, train, and manage maintenance staff to ensure optimal plant availability at the best possible cost.
- Ensure the efficient procurement and availability of spare parts and consumables to meet plant availability targets.
- Balance the use of internal and external maintenance resources, effectively managing outside contractors.
- Maintain comprehensive maintenance records to track ownership costs and facilitate proactive maintenance strategies.
- Ensure compliance with statutory and company safety, health, environmental, and hygiene standards.
- Prepare and manage the maintenance budget to achieve agreed-upon plant performance levels cost-effectively.

SUPERVISORY ROLE
The Facilities Maintenance Lead supervises and directs the activities of a team of 7 to 10 Maintenance Mechanics.
FOOD SAFETY AND QUALITY OVERSIGHT
This position is responsible for ensuring compliance with the plant's Food Safety & Quality Management Systems, providing guidance to staff to ensure the production of safe and high-quality food products.
QUALIFICATIONS
To excel in this role, candidates must demonstrate the ability to perform essential duties satisfactorily. The following qualifications are required:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or a related field is preferred.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in food manufacturing, with expertise in batch and continuous processes, site engineering, and equipment maintenance.
- At least 3 years of supervisory or management experience.
- Proven troubleshooting skills and the ability to implement corrective actions in high-pressure situations.
- Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and automation systems.
- Excellent leadership skills with a focus on mentoring and developing team members.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and the ability to learn new software.
LANGUAGE AND MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Must possess the ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical documents and effectively communicate with peers and management. Fluency in English is required; Spanish is a plus. Capability to perform necessary mathematical calculations for job functions is essential.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This role requires regular sitting, talking, and hearing, with frequent standing, walking, and use of hands. Occasionally, the employee may need to lift up to 50 pounds and perform tasks requiring close vision and depth perception.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Employees may be exposed to various environmental conditions, including wet or humid areas, extreme temperatures, and mechanical hazards. The noise level is typically moderate, and the work environment may vary significantly.
