VP/GM Materials

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled leader to join our team as VP/GM Materials. As a key member of our executive team, you will be responsible for leading the sales, production, and strategic growth of our materials business in the Midwest region.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the sales and production teams to achieve business goals and objectives.
- Develop and implement strategies to drive growth and profitability.
- Oversee the development of production plans and area budgets.
- Lead and guide the management team to achieve business goals and grow profitability.
- Maintain awareness of market conditions and adjust strategies as needed.
- Oversee capital budgets, operating budgets, and operating costs.
- Participate in systems analysis and identify areas for cost reductions and improved customer experience.
- Direct the sales activities and marketing strategies.
- Build direct relationships with key customers and participate in industry and community organizations.
- Ensure talent management and acquisition strategies are in place to provide optimal staffing and performance.
- Confirm compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and Group guidelines.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree required, MBA preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years experience in the construction industry, with experience in multiple product lines preferable.
- Underground mining experience is a plus.
- 7-10 years experience in progressively responsible positions in sales, operations, or engineering, with a demonstrated safety record.
- Prior leadership experience is required, experience in a union environment is desirable.
- Must have a solid understanding of both operations and sales functions.
- In-depth understanding of the financial aspects of a business, including P&L statements, EVA, and budgets.
- Significant market pricing knowledge and cost awareness.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
- Ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization and cross-functional departments.
- Demonstrated negotiation skills.
- Solid computer skills, including MS Office Suite of products.
- Strong leadership skills and ability to motivate others to achieve results.
- Demonstrated ability to make decisions based on sound business reasoning.
- Ability to manage changing situations effectively.
