- Oversee the preventive and corrective upkeep of Photovoltaic (PV) inverters, string boxes, solar panels, and associated components
- Assist in the initiation of the solar array and monitoring systems during project setup as required
- Ensure proper configuration of PV systems
- Conduct roof replacements, repairs, and drywall work as necessary
- Install hardware, PV modules, inverters, and monitoring devices
- Carry out commissioning of inverters and inspect solar panels
- Mechanical and structural installation of racking, modules, and electrical apparatus
- Address corrective maintenance issues on PV inverters, string boxes, and solar panels; including troubleshooting, testing, and repair tasks
- Electrical wiring of solar systems (AC and DC)
- Execute voltage testing using appropriate personal protective equipment and procedures
- Prepare reports as necessary to meet obligations in Operations & Maintenance contracts
- Assist in all aspects of preventive and corrective maintenance as directed by management with minimal oversight
- Participate in mandatory training sessions on new products, installation techniques, maintenance, and safety protocols
- Ensure tasks are executed in accordance with organizational standards for quality management and environmental, health, and safety regulations, policies, and procedures
- Maintain compliance with Company policies, environmental health and safety standards, and good housekeeping practices; identify safety gaps and risks in the environment and provide recommendations to senior technical staff and management
- Ability to repair various types of roofs and ground mounts
- Ability to add or remove panels from solar systems
- Capable of identifying and isolating roof leaks
- Familiarity with Electrical Panels including Sub Panels (Moderate conduit bending, relocating circuits, etc.)
- Knowledge of Monitoring equipment (Cat5, Zigbee, Router, Range Extender, etc.)
- Able to interpret and understand plans
- Familiarity with all AHJ guidelines within the region
- Ability to troubleshoot inverters reporting production loss
- Knowledge of various Solar Equipment (Enphase, SolarEdge, SunPower, etc.)
- Complete Return Merchandise Authorizations (RMAs) and maintain project documentation
- Understanding of battery backup systems (Enphase, LG, etc.)
- Experience in Electrical troubleshooting (Power outages, shorts, faults, etc.)
- Understanding of Standalone Metering equipment (CT for production and consumption)
- May require travel for extended periods as necessary
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Education & Certifications:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum of 1+ year of experience in solar
- Experience with electrical systems and roof racking
- Experience installing various types of grid-tied inverters and working with different ground and roof mount racking systems
- Experience in PV Component performance and HALT testing
- Experience in Electrical troubleshooting (Power outages, shorts, faults, etc.)
- Familiarity with electrical schematics and field layouts
- Ability to read and comprehend electrical and mechanical diagrams, technical manuals, procedures, and regulations
- Understanding of NEC (National Electrical Codes) relevant to PV installations
- Strong motivation with attention to productivity, detail, and safety
- Able to work safely at heights on ladders and in confined spaces
- Capable of lifting, pulling, and pushing materials and equipment to complete assigned tasks
- Willing and able to climb ladders, stairs, work on rooftops, and remain on feet for extended periods
- Able to lift 50 pounds frequently throughout the workday
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: (Employee may be required to travel for business purposes, excluding commute to and from work.) If travel is necessary, a valid Driver's License/Insurance and the ability to drive a personal vehicle to various sites is required.
