AV Commissioning Technician Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled AV Commissioning Technician to join our team at New Era Technology. As an AV Commissioning Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the successful installation and commissioning of our audiovisual systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with our engineering team to complete drawing reviews and ensure compliance with our standards.
  • Oversee and support multiple projects simultaneously, prioritizing tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Review project requirements and schedule remote and onsite support to complete projects efficiently.
  • Support project managers and engineers with technical requirements and provide expert advice.
  • Participate in engineering discussions and contribute to the development of new technologies.
  • Quality control systems installed by others, ensuring they meet our standards.
  • Train clients on the use of AV systems, providing exceptional customer service.
  • Support the installation team as needed, ensuring seamless system integration.
  • Crimp, solder, wire pull, label, terminate, and perform other technical tasks associated with AV systems.
  • Fabricate AV systems in the field and in-house as needed.
  • Stage AV systems in-house, preparing them for installation.
  • Install and label equipment into racks, ensuring efficient cable management.
  • Dress cables in racks, under tables, in credenzas, and other locations.
  • Label and terminate cables, both in and out of racks.
  • Document equipment, including serial numbers, MAC addresses, and IP addresses.
  • Manage inventory and maintain a chain of custody.
  • Read and markup project documents, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to safety protocols.
  • Configure, load, test, and troubleshoot control systems programming.
  • Write, load, and tweak DSP files, ensuring optimal system performance.
  • Write, load, and test basic configurable systems.
  • Work closely with programmers, whether in-house or subcontractors.
  • Troubleshoot and repair newly installed and existing custom AV systems.
  • Provide detailed daily reports of work completed and open punch-list items.
  • Read, understand, and follow consultant documentation.
  • Use hand and power tools, adhering to safety guidelines.
  • Safe use of ladders, scaffolding, and lifts, ensuring a safe working environment.
  • Lift heavy and bulky equipment, maintaining a safe working posture.
  • Understand and meet all deadlines, prioritizing tasks effectively.
  • Resolve customer service issues with management, ensuring exceptional customer satisfaction.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and attitude, representing New Era Technology positively.
  • Work towards 100% customer satisfaction, exceeding expectations.
  • Comply fully with company policies and procedures, adhering to industry standards.
  • Provide excellent customer service through a professional attitude, ensuring customer loyalty.
  • Perform other duties as deemed necessary by management, contributing to the team's success.
Requirements:
  • Strong client and service-focused mindset, demonstrating excellent listening skills and the ability to understand customer issues.
  • Understanding of how audiovisual systems function, and how to diagnose and resolve problems within those systems.
  • Ability to use discretion and good judgment regarding sensitive or confidential information.
  • Proficient with computers, including audiovisual applications (ClearOne, AMX, Extron, Crestron, Poly, Cisco, QSC, Biamp, etc.).
  • Must have a clean driving record.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and period domestic and international travel.
  • Must have excellent organization skills.
  • Must have proven multitasking skills and can work under extreme pressures.
  • Must have solid soldering skills.
  • Have a valid US Passport.
Experience:

CTS certification and a minimum of four years of AV experience is required, with proven proficient skills required for Field Engineer level from New Era Technology, PA Field Personnel Matrix.

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent.

Physical Demands:
  • Ability to drive a company van to client sites.
  • Ability to stoop, kneel, bend at the waist, and reach on a daily basis.
  • Ability to safely use ladders, scaffolding, and lifts.
  • Willing to work at heights.
  • Regularly use hands and fingers to handle, control, or feel objects.
  • Regularly see details of objects that are less than a few feet away.
  • Regularly speak clearly so listeners can understand.
  • Regularly understand the speech of another person.
  • Frequently work on projects that require deadlines.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds.
Work Environment:

New Era Technology office and client sites, domestic and international.

Expected Hours of Work:

Business hours are Monday through Friday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. However, required work hours may vary depending on business needs. Ability to work flexible hours is required.
