Oncology Clinical Research Nurse

Position Overview:
The Oncology Clinical Research Nurse (CRN) is tasked with delivering direct patient care to individuals receiving treatment at our designated location. This role requires collaboration with physicians to ensure the effective implementation and assessment of clinical research within the oncology program.
Key Responsibilities:
The CRN possesses in-depth knowledge of cancer as a disease, treatment options, and the intricacies of conducting clinical research. The responsibilities include:
- Utilizing evidence-based nursing practices to develop and coordinate comprehensive care plans that address the physical, psychological, and social needs of cancer patients and their families.
- Reviewing research protocols for feasibility and serving as the research coordinator for various clinical trials.
- Facilitating monthly meetings to provide critical updates to research teams and staff.
- Monitoring clinical trial practices and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
Research Duties:
The CRN will assist in the recruitment and registration of patients for clinical trials, coordinate necessary assessments, and monitor test results as required. Collaboration with both internal and external stakeholders is essential for the successful completion of research trials.
Clinical Responsibilities:
This role involves coordinating study enrollment, treatment protocols, and ensuring that all study requirements are met for participating patients. The CRN will:
- Work effectively within a healthcare team to ensure patient care needs are addressed.
- Provide education on protocols to patients and their families, tailoring communication to meet the specific needs of diverse populations.
- Document patient interactions and findings accurately, maintaining compliance with nursing standards and regulatory requirements.
Professional Development:
The CRN is expected to engage in ongoing professional growth, including:
- Identifying areas for improvement and setting professional goals.
- Participating in relevant committees and contributing to the nursing and patient care services.
- Maintaining all necessary certifications and competencies.
Qualifications:
Applicants should possess:
- A valid registered nursing license.
- A bachelor's degree in nursing is preferred; an associate degree with a commitment to obtain a BSN within four years is acceptable.
- A minimum of one year of recent nursing experience, preferably in an ambulatory or oncology setting.
- Professional nursing certification is advantageous.
- Bilingual abilities, particularly in Spanish, are preferred.
