About the Role
As an Optical Consultant at AEG Vision, you will play a vital role in ensuring our patients receive exceptional eye care and personalized service. Your technical expertise and excellent communication skills will make a significant difference in our customers' experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver outstanding customer service by providing personalized recommendations for eyewear and accessories.
- Develop and maintain a loyal client base through exceptional service and referrals.
- Stay up-to-date on industry products, procedures, and manufacturer rebates to provide informed advice to patients.
- Manage patient calls, updating them on order status and resolving any issues that may arise.
- Assist patients in selecting frames, lenses, and lens treatments that meet their specific needs.
- Educate patients on proper eyeglass and contact lens care.
- Collect and interpret patient measurements to ensure proper fit.
- Interpret prescriptions written by optometrists and ophthalmologists.
- Create work orders for lab technicians, specifying lens requirements.
- Follow up on pending orders, verifying they are completed within the given timeframe and notifying patients of delays.
- Dispense glasses, inspecting the product for proper fit and adjusting as needed.
- Adjust eyewear to ensure visual acuity, proper fit, and patient comfort.
- Use various tools to perform eyewear adjustments and repairs.
- Regularly communicate with technicians and store managers to provide additional patient information or request order status.
- Inspect final products for flaws, clean and polish lenses, and maintain a clean and organized workspace.
- Restock retail boards with new merchandise.
- Understand product issues and analyze problems, providing accurate answers to patients' questions.
- Collaborate with technicians, front desk associates, managers, and optometrists to ensure seamless patient care.
- Sell miscellaneous products, such as cleaners, contact lens supplies, and sunglasses.
Requirements
- High School Diploma
- Minimum one-year experience as an Optician preferred
- Experience with HIPAA requirements preferred
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
- Excellent customer service skills and pleasant demeanor, experience with sales preferred
- Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination
- Dependability and punctuality
- Ability to lift up to 30lbs, bend, kneel, and stand for up to 8 hours a day
