Job Summary:
Akron Children's Hospital is seeking a skilled Laboratory Assistant to provide support to our laboratory team. As a Laboratory Assistant, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our laboratory, performing various tasks to support our clinical laboratory team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and process laboratory orders, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
- Obtain, receive, and process specimens for testing, adhering to sterile handling techniques when necessary.
- Perform pre-analytical and analytical tasks according to established protocols.
- Prepare specimens for send-out testing, as required.
- Assist with phlebotomy duties, as needed.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and safety standards.
- Collect and process laboratory glassware, following established procedures.
- Deliver glassware to laboratory departments and other labs, as assigned.
- Perform other duties as required to support the laboratory team.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; knowledge of basic biology and chemistry preferred.
- Experience in sterile processing and lab skills preferred.
- Ability to work effectively with all levels of an organization.
- Proficiency in MS Office or similar software preferred.
Working Conditions:
This is a part-time position, working 16 hours per week, with a flexible schedule to accommodate the needs of the laboratory.
