About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated Medical Assistant - Wound Care Specialist to join our team at Arkansas Heart Hospital LLC. As a key member of our clinical staff, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and support.


Job Summary

This is an exciting opportunity for a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Paramedic to work as a Patient Care Coordinator in our Wound Care Center. You will be responsible for assisting with patient care, scheduling, financial clearance, and pre-registration, as well as administering hyperbaric oxygen therapy and diagnostic testing under the supervision of a Certified Hyperbaric Registered Nurse or Board Certified Hyperbaric Registered Physician.


Responsibilities
  • Actively participate in patient care and ensure a safe and comforting environment.
  • Respond promptly to patients' needs.
  • Transport patients as required.
  • Welcome patients and facilitate the admission process.
  • Assist with daily living activities, including meals, bathing, and hygiene needs.
  • Perform/assist with positioning patients and transferring them between bed and chair or wheelchair/stretcher.
  • Conduct range of motion exercises and ambulate patients.
  • Administer Cardiac Rehab exercises according to protocol.
  • Report any abnormal conditions to the RN in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with the RN to maintain skin integrity using emollients and creams, and care for superficial skin tears.
  • Identify the organization of the human body, including its systems, structure, and functions.
  • Demonstrate general principles of cleanliness (asepsis).
  • Apply basic nutrition principles to patient care.
  • Provide emergency care.
  • Perform Point of Care procedures in a timely manner, documenting required information and adhering to quality control standards.
  • Solicit information from patient's doctor's office staff and insurance regarding pre-certification.
  • Explain procedures and answer questions regarding patient care and scheduled procedures.
  • Recognize, report, and record changes resulting from disease or trauma affecting various body systems.
  • Apply simple dressings and assist the RN/MD with more complex dressings.
  • Accurately reconcile medications.
  • Update the patient's medical record at each visit, including allergies, hospitalizations, and surgeries, in the electronic medical record system with timeliness and accuracy.
  • Document Flu and Pneumonia immunizations.
  • Conduct 12-lead EKGs.
  • Obtain weight and basic patient information.
  • Perform phlebotomy and blood glucose monitoring.
  • Travel to outreach satellite clinics.

Requirements
  • Education: Graduate of an accredited Practical Nurse program or Paramedic program required.
  • Licensure/Certification: Current state licensure as a Practical Nurse or licensure from a state within the Nursing Compact required for LPNs; appropriate licensure by the state of AR for Paramedics; and current BLS at time of employment.
  • Experience: None required; minimum of 6 months' continuous LPN or Paramedic experience preferred.
