Job Summary

Chevron is seeking a skilled Mechanic to join our team in Carlsbad or Hobbs, New Mexico. As a key member of our production operations team, you will be responsible for safely maintaining and repairing mechanical equipment associated with oil and gas production operations and processing.

Responsibilities
  • Perform regular scheduled large-scale preventative maintenance and corrective repair maintenance activities on large COOP compression fleets and additional rotating equipment, including VRUs, air compressors, and various pumps.
  • Support Health, Environment, and Safety processes by completing daily activities within applicable regulations and policies.
  • Follow safe operating practices as described in the MCBU Safe Practice Manual and maintain a safe working environment.
  • Manage work orders through CMMS and mobile applications, perform pre-work scoping activities, rotating equipment troubleshooting, and other equipment reliability efforts.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Ability and willingness to work weekends and holidays on assigned work schedules and overtime as workload demands.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associates of Applied Science degree or higher or Military Occupation Specialty (MOS) in Compression, Industrial Maintenance Technology, or related mechanical technology discipline.
  • 2 years of current industrial mechanical experience, with emphasis on reciprocating engines, compressors, centrifugal compressors, turbines, centrifugal and reciprocating pumps, and generators.
  • Demonstrated commitment to Chevron Way Values.
  • Strong verbal and written communication.
  • Able to work with limited supervision.
  • Familiarity with reliability efforts for various safety, environmental, and production-related issues.
  • Ability to perform troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of major oil and gas production and facility process systems.
  • Basic knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) and CMMS, and an aptitude for learning new software applications.
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks with limited supervision.
  • Ability to work effectively and cooperatively within a diverse team.
  • Must be able to read and interpret manuals and other technical materials.
Relocation Options

Relocation may be considered within Chevron parameters.

International assignments will not be considered.
