Role Overview:
As the first point of contact for patients, you will warmly greet and assist individuals entering the healthcare facility. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure the accurate and timely processing of patient demographic and insurance information. You will effectively communicate and collaborate with various hospital departments utilizing the scheduling system as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
In this role, you will:
- Collect and input demographic, billing, and insurance information from patients or their representatives into the registration and billing systems.
- Prepare necessary documentation for patient consent and financial obligations, ensuring electronic signatures are obtained.
- Provide exceptional customer service, utilizing strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Assist patients with financial inquiries and direct them to financial counselors when necessary.
- Manage patient identification processes, including preparing armbands and balancing daily receipts.
- Support the scheduling of patient appointments and maintain compliance with hospital and regulatory guidelines.
- Engage with patients and families in a professional manner, demonstrating care and understanding of their needs.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate degree in a relevant medical field such as medical assisting or medical office administration.
- Experience in a medical office environment.
Physical Requirements:
The physical demands of this position include frequent walking, standing, and the ability to lift and move objects as necessary. Candidates must have the manual dexterity to operate office equipment and the ability to maintain focus in a busy environment.
Working Environment:
This role is set in a fast-paced healthcare environment, requiring interaction with patients, medical staff, and support personnel. Candidates should be prepared for a dynamic work atmosphere.
Skills and Abilities:
Successful candidates will demonstrate the ability to manage multiple tasks, maintain attention to detail, and communicate effectively with diverse individuals. Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance processes is preferred.
