Job Summary

The Director of Medical Surgical Oncology is responsible for ensuring high-quality, patient-centered care through oversight of the overall function and staffing of the unit(s)/department(s). This includes forecasting, planning, and budget monitoring, as well as fostering a culture of accountability and collaboration.

Key Responsibilities
  • Cultivate a superior clinical identity by identifying and implementing evidence-based practices to advance patient safety and quality outcomes.
  • Manage variation in clinical practice to improve efficiency, effectiveness, and cost, ensuring a culture of accountability and transparency in the provision of care.
  • Stay abreast of internal/external benchmarks, accreditations, and designations, and actively pursue efforts to achieve.
  • Develop and implement policies, procedures, and practices in compliance with all legal and regulatory standards.
  • Ensure efficient patient throughput and delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care through volume forecasting, patient flow coordination, and admission/discharge planning.
  • Develop care coordination policies and procedures to promote improved quality, safety, and efficiency in care, fostering interdisciplinary communication and collaboration within and across departments.
  • Direct nursing practice and unit operations, developing policies, procedures, and nursing standards to ensure patient and family needs are assessed, met, and evaluated.
  • Provide leadership in attaining and sustaining an unparalleled patient experience, instilling accountability for providing consistent, positive patient interactions.
  • Participate in the annual budget process, including input into department revenue and expense forecasts, staffing, and supply and equipment needs.
Requirements
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support
  • Registered Nurse
  • Associate Degree with preference towards a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
  • Chemo/ONCC certification preferred
  • 2+ years of leadership experience
