Job Overview:
The role involves engaging in multi-disciplinary tasks to operate, maintain, repair, and enhance building systems and structures.
Essential Qualifications:
1. At least 2 years of experience in commercial building maintenance.
2. Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English.
3. Ability to work in diverse physical conditions, including heights and outdoor environments.
4. Possession of a valid Illinois driver's license.
5. Availability for emergency contact and response within 30 minutes.
6. Capability to work from ladders.
7. Ability to stand for extended periods (at least 8 hours).
8. Experience with steam and hot water boilers.
9. Knowledge of water treatment processes.
10. Physical ability to lift up to 100 lbs.
11. Familiarity with electrical systems up to 480 volts, HVAC controls, kitchen equipment, and chillers.
12. EPA - Refrigerant Recovery Act - Universal Certification required.
Desired Skills:
1. Engage in multi-craft tasks as directed by the Plant Operations Manager.
2. Operate, maintain, and repair various equipment.
3. Manage and service all HVAC systems.
4. Repair laboratory and kitchen equipment.
5. Maintain plumbing and electrical systems within the building.
6. Conduct maintenance inspections and perform necessary work to ensure safe and efficient operation of all equipment.
7. Participate in remodeling and construction tasks within the scope of expertise.
8. Execute duties in a manner that conserves energy across all utilities.
Additional Responsibilities:
1. Acquire new skills through on-the-job training and formal education.
2. Perform other tasks as assigned by the Plant Operations Manager.
Physical Requirements:
Heavy lifting (up to 100 lbs occasionally, 50 lbs frequently, or 25 lbs constantly).
Visual Acuity:
Visual acuity required for tasks at arm's length.
Work Environment:
Exposure to loud noise.
Environmental Conditions:
Typical office or administrative settings, outdoor weather conditions, potential hazards, close quarters, vibrations, and exposure to fumes or airborne particles.
