Pacific Northwest National Laboratory is seeking a highly skilled Radiochemist Technician to join our team. As a key member of our laboratory, you will be responsible for conducting analytical radiochemistry experiments, developing new procedures, and mentoring junior staff.
Responsibilities- Conduct analytical radiochemistry experiments, including quantitative radiochemical separations.
- Develop and implement new procedures and methods to improve laboratory efficiency.
- Mentor and train junior staff to enhance their technical and professional skills.
- Collaborate with colleagues to achieve project goals and objectives.
- Prepare and maintain accurate documentation of laboratory procedures and results.
- Work under general supervision, with regular review of work for soundness of judgment and overall adequacy.
- High school diploma or equivalent and 4 years of relevant experience, or technical institute graduate or relevant AA degree and 2 years of relevant experience.
- Experience working under ASME-NQA-2008/2009 and addendum and ISO/IEC 17025:2005 or 217 quality assurance programs.
- Knowledge of analytical radiochemistry, including quantitative radiochemical separations, and experience with ICP-MS, ICP-OES, GC-MS, and other analytical techniques.
- Work in a laboratory environment, with occasional off-shift work, evenings, nights, and weekends.
- Heavy lifting, up to 40 lbs., may be required.
- Must be trained and certified as a Radiation Worker II.
US Citizenship is required due to business needs and client space. This position is subject to the Department of Energy Unclassified Foreign Visits & Assignments Program site, information, technologies, and equipment access requirements.
This position is a Testing Designated Position (TDP), and the selected candidate will be subject to pre-employment and random drug testing for illegal drugs, including marijuana, consistent with the Controlled Substances Act and the PNNL Workplace Substance Abuse Program.
