Role Summary
We are seeking dedicated Early Childhood Education Assistants to join our team. The working hours are Monday through Friday, from 9:30 AM to 6:00 PM. In this role, you will be responsible for fostering a safe, nurturing, and intellectually stimulating environment for preschool-aged children. You will ensure that the curriculum and activities are developmentally suitable and align with identified educational and developmental objectives. Your duties will include facilitating activities that promote safety, engagement, and creativity among each child in the group. Collaboration with lead educators is essential to discuss and support the execution of daily lesson plans in accordance with the established curriculum.
Qualifications
Essential Education, Experience & Training
- Must be at least 18 years old
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- A minimum of two years of experience working with preschool children (ages 3-5) with proficiency in:
- Behavior management techniques
- Activity planning and coordination
Skills & Competencies
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with both children and adults in a constructive and proactive manner. Cultural humility is essential when engaging with staff and families from diverse backgrounds.
- Capability to design diverse and age-appropriate activities catering to children of varying ages and developmental levels.
- Proven ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills, strategic thinking, and the ability to handle sensitive information and challenging situations with discretion and confidentiality.
Employment Conditions
- Must maintain the following certifications: criminal record clearance, Food Worker Card, First Aid/CPR certification, Blood Borne Pathogens/HIV training, and Mandated Reporter Training.
- Completion of the state-required Initial Certificate (12 credits) within five years of employment.
Post-Hire Requirements
- Ongoing training as mandated by the Washington State Department of Children, Youth, and Families, including:
- Medication Management, Disaster and Emergency Preparedness, Families Experiencing Homelessness, and Abusive Head Trauma.
Within the First Month of Employment
Completion of the STARS Basic 30-hour Child Care course is required.
