Position Summary: The HVAC Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of environmental control systems in various settings, including residential, commercial, and industrial facilities. This role requires a strong understanding of refrigeration principles, pipefitting, and structural design.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install and mount compressor and condenser units using hand tools.
  • Interpret blueprints and engineering specifications to ensure accurate installations.
  • Fabricate, assemble, and install ductwork and related components.
  • Utilize portable metalworking tools and welding equipment effectively.
  • Install evaporator units in designated locations, ensuring proper integration into air-duct systems.
  • Measure and cut tubing to precise lengths and shapes using appropriate tools.
  • Thread pipes using machine or hand-threading equipment as required.
  • Connect tubing or pipes to refrigerating units using sleeves, couplings, or unions, and solder joints securely.
  • Utilize a torch to form complete circuits for refrigerants.
  • Install necessary valves in the refrigeration circuit.
  • Connect motors, compressors, and control systems to power sources and ensure functionality.
  • Install air and water filters as part of the final setup.
  • Test systems by injecting refrigerant and adjusting controls to achieve optimal performance.
  • Inspect joints and connections for leaks using appropriate testing methods.
  • Insulate pipes and secure them with appropriate materials.
  • Replace faulty components such as breakers, thermostats, and wiring to maintain system integrity.
  • Manage and operate Boiler and Chiller plants, ensuring optimal system temperatures and equipment performance.
  • Perform installation, repair, and maintenance on a range of air conditioning systems, chillers, and cooling towers.

Qualifications:

  • North American Technician Excellence (NATE) HVAC Service Technician Certification.
  • HVAC Excellence Professional Level Certification.
  • UA Star HVAC Mastery Certification.
  • Current Journeyman certification for union workers.
  • Stationary Engineers License as mandated by local regulations.
  • Refrigeration Operator License as required by local regulations.
