UNC Health Care is seeking a highly skilled Medical Technologist I to join our team. As a Medical Technologist I, you will play a critical role in conducting patient tests and supporting clinical operations at our organization.
Key Responsibilities:- Investigate and Resolve Issues: Conduct thorough investigations into equipment malfunctions, test result discrepancies, and specimen handling issues.
- Collaborate with Healthcare Providers: Work closely with healthcare providers to report and discuss test results, ensuring accurate and timely communication.
- Provide Training and Support: Train Clinical Laboratory Science students, Pathology residents, and new staff members on laboratory procedures and protocols.
- Perform Quality Control and Maintenance: Conduct quality control checks on laboratory equipment and perform routine maintenance tasks to ensure optimal performance.
- Conduct Laboratory Tests: Perform a range of standard and specialized laboratory tests, including quality control and proficiency testing.
Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Laboratory Technology, or a related field.
- Certification: ASCP or AMT Board of Certification eligibility is required for those holding an Associate's degree in Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Laboratory Technology. Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician (ASCP) or MLT (AMT) Board of Certification is necessary for those holding an Associate's degree in Chemical or Biological Science.
