Overview:
The Pediatric Speech-Language Pathologist II is responsible for the assessment and treatment of children facing challenges with speech, language, voice, fluency, swallowing, and cognitive functions.
This role requires the ability to effectively manage a diverse patient caseload within a clinical setting, executing all responsibilities of speech-language pathology with minimal supervision. The therapist may seek guidance in more intricate cases and may face challenges when providing coverage across different settings.
Initiating communication with interdisciplinary team members, this position treats familiar patients confidently and advocates for their needs and the team’s objectives.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive evaluations of patients presenting with speech, language, cognitive, and swallowing disorders to assess their communication and oral motor capabilities.
- Develop and implement evidence-based, individualized treatment plans tailored to assessment results, patient goals, and specific needs.
- Educate patients and their families on treatment protocols, home exercises, and self-management strategies to enhance recovery outcomes.
- Monitor and document patient progress, treatment results, and responses to interventions, adjusting treatment plans as necessary.
- Collaborate with team members to formulate and execute discharge plans and recommendations for ongoing care, seeking guidance when needed.
- Report patient progress and current status to relevant parties, including family members and healthcare professionals.
- Assist in the orientation and training of new staff, demonstrating a commitment to enhancing the skills and performance of colleagues.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education: Required: Master’s degree in Speech Pathology
Experience: Required: Minimum of 3 years
Licensure/Certification:
Required:
- Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association or eligibility through a Clinical Fellowship Year.
- Licensed by the North Carolina Board for Speech Pathologists and Audiologists during the Supervised Experience Year.
- BLS (CPR) certification from the American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider.
