Position Overview
The Pilot in Command is entrusted with ensuring the safe, compliant, and efficient operation of company aircraft.
The following outlines the essential responsibilities and expectations for this role:
- Reporting Structure: Reports directly to the Chief Pilot.
- Authority: Holds ultimate responsibility for the safe operation of aircraft owned by Chantilly Air, Inc.
- Operational Duties: Executes all responsibilities related to aircraft operation in accordance with 14 CFR Part 91, including:
- Ensuring airworthiness and maintaining proper documentation and company manuals onboard.
- Conducting weight and balance calculations, assessing weather conditions, and managing performance and fueling.
- Coordinating flight locating and briefing activities while adhering to manufacturer and company operational limitations.
- Team Leadership: Guides the Second In Command, ensuring clarity in individual responsibilities among flight crew members.
- Safety Commitment: Advocates for a safe operational environment in line with FAA regulations and Chantilly Air's safety protocols, actively contributing to the company's Safety Management System.
- Policy Adherence: Complies with all company policies and procedures.
- Professional Representation: Maintains a professional demeanor in all settings as a key representative of the organization.
- Regulatory Compliance: Keeps current with FAA regulations and maintains a 1st Class Medical certificate as per company policy.
- Customer Service: Delivers exceptional professionalism and customer service.
- Collaboration: Works collaboratively with all departments as needed.
A Bachelor’s Degree is preferred.
QualificationsThe qualifications listed below represent the knowledge and skills required for this position. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
Knowledge and Skills Required:
- Preferred 3000 hours of total fixed-wing flight time.
- Preferred 2000 hours of Pilot in Command fixed-wing flight time.
- Lear 45 Type Rating is preferred.
- Preferred 250 hours of turbine time.
- Possession of an FCC Restricted Radiotelephone Operator's Permit.
- Current FAA First Class Medical certificate.
- No history of accidents or incidents.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States.
- Must pass the following checks:
- Pre-employment drug screening.
- PRIA background check (including any incidents/accidents).
- Credit check.
- DMV check with a valid driver's license.
- Employment verification.
- Fluency in reading, speaking, and writing in English.
- Ability to relocate within a reasonable distance of the company’s base of operations.
- Must meet all international travel requirements related to health protocols.
The working conditions are typical for an on-demand flight operation, subject to various climate conditions, air turbulence, time zone changes, altitude variations, and other dynamic factors.
Physical DemandsThis role requires physical activities such as pulling, pushing, kneeling, twisting, climbing, squatting, bending, and lifting equipment.
