Ophthalmic Care Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Ophthalmic Care Specialist to join our team at Midwest Vision Partners. As an Ophthalmic Care Specialist, you will play a vital role in the care of patients in a clinic setting.
Key Responsibilities- Interact with patients to gather information and enter it into our electronic medical records system.
- Proactively engage patients in communicating what to expect with the visit and continue to communicate delays or any other changes with the patient.
- Initiate and perform documentation of the patient's chief complaint, present illness, and captures past medical history.
- Accurately record all information in EMR system according to established standards and physician requirements.
- Conduct tests and measures eye muscle function, pupil size, and reactivity.
- Apply drops to anesthetize, dilate, or medicate eyes.
- Assist with minor surgery procedures, intraocular injections and laser treatments, in an exam room or treatment room, including preparing patients for sterile procedures.
- Educate patients regarding the administration of medications, and pre and post operative instructions, as directed by physicians.
- Readily scribe for physician.
- Secure patient information and maintain patient confidence by completing and safeguarding medical records, completing diagnostic and procedure coding, and keeping patient information confidential, following all HIPAA requirements.
- Utilize effective problem-solving skills to respectfully and efficiently de-escalate any dissatisfied patients.
- Demonstrate basic knowledge of eye anatomy, disease, symptoms & ocular medications.
- Stay current with the latest technologies and medications and be able to answer general patient questions.
- Assist team members and complete other special projects as requested.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Valid driver's license and ability to drive a motor vehicle.
- Ability to stand or sit for extended periods of time and lift up to 50lbs.
