Position Overview

Job Title: Nursing Unit Manager

Schedule: 2 PM - 6 AM, Double Weekend Baylor Program. Work 4 shifts and receive compensation for 5.

Role Summary: The Nursing Unit Manager is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the activities of the assigned unit, ensuring efficient staff assignments and operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Exhibit clinical proficiency in alignment with established Nursing Practice standards.
  • Identify and respond promptly to patient needs.
  • Monitor, document, and observe vital signs, treatments administered, and patient responses.
  • Administer medications and treatments as required.
  • Communicate essential services, plans, and concerns to relevant team members, residents, families, or medical staff.
  • Implement disciplinary actions in accordance with policy.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including physicians and other service providers.
  • Conduct RN assessments for residents following incidents or changes in condition.
  • Lead and manage emergency situations, including fire and elopement protocols.
  • Maintain accurate nursing reports, staffing sheets, and census rosters.

Qualifications:

  • Current RN License in good standing in the State of New York.
  • Experience with geriatric, short-term rehabilitation, and Alzheimer’s patients is preferred.
  • Progressive nursing and supervisory experience is desirable.

  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Able to work effectively under pressure and adapt to changing situations.
