Senior Mechanical Engineer Job Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team at Elephas, a biotechnology start-up company based in Madison, WI. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading efforts in the development of automated systems for biological sample handling and analysis.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development of automated systems for biological sample handling and analysis
  • Manage third-party engineering activities and contribute to internal engineering initiatives
  • Design and fabricate custom parts either in-house or through vendors
  • Contribute to brainstorming sessions on novel instrumentation and consumables
  • Develop and test new instrumentation
  • Analyze and present data at internal and external meetings
  • Collaborate with team members to drive innovation and conduct feasibility studies
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • An Associate's, Bachelor's, or Master's Degree in engineering, bioengineering, physics, electrical engineering, or a related field
  • 10-15+ years of industry experience in optical assemblies, motion control, system design, and testing
  • Experience with engineering tools and software such as 3D printers, laser cutters, and SolidWorks
  • Consumable design experience, including materials selection and injection molding
Salary and Benefits

The estimated annual salary for this position is $120,000-$180,000, depending on experience. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package, including paid time off, health insurance, life insurance, flexible spending accounts, a 401(k) plan, and stock options.
