Job Summary
The Counseling Specialist will provide individual, group, and family therapies to children, adolescents, and adults, using evidence-based practices to address addiction, mental health, and other areas as required by the program. This role requires a high level of emotional intelligence, empathy, and cultural competence, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct intake assessments and provide recommendations for treatment
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, including goal setting and progress monitoring
- Provide individual, group, and family therapies, using evidence-based practices to address addiction, mental health, and other areas as required by the program
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, including treatment plans, progress notes, and outcome measures
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including medical professionals, social workers, and other support staff, to ensure comprehensive care
- Participate in clinical group meetings to discuss ongoing treatment goals, progress, and discharge as needed
Qualifications
- Masters degree from an accredited college or university in a human service field, such as counseling, psychology, or social work
- At least two years of experience providing direct therapy in the area of mental health, substance use, or IDD
- Familiarity with standard business computer software programs and electronic health care database programs
- Clearances required by program, including ACT 33/34 and FBI clearance
Benefits
- Competitive salary range: $52,140 (unlicensed) to $55,530 (licensed)

Physical Requirements
- Lifting up to 20 pounds frequently, and/or negligible amount of force constantly to move objects
- Ability to stand or sit for long periods, as well as walk, use hands or fingers to handle or feel, climb stairs or ladders, talk or hear, see, push or pull, and perform repetitive motion
