Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Patient Transporter to join our team at Nuvance Health. As a Patient Transporter, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient transportation of patients within our Emergency Department.

Key Responsibilities

  • Transport patients to and from various areas of the hospital, including testing areas and in-patient rooms.
  • Stock and restock oxygen cabinets and closets in the department as needed.
  • Pick up supplies and blood products when required and assist in turning over rooms for the next patient.
  • Assist in maintaining a safe and orderly work environment.
  • Participate in setting and attaining department goals.
  • Maintain confidentiality for patients and their families.
  • Utilize effective communication skills with patients, families, visitors, medical staff, and hospital personnel.
  • Stay current regarding job-related duties through required in-service education and staff meetings.
  • Formulate and use effective working relationships with all healthcare staff, patients, and significant others.
  • Assertively seek guidance and direction as needed.
  • Fulfill all compliance responsibilities related to the position.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • BLS/CPR certification.
  • Ability to understand and speak conversational English and possess listening and comprehensive skills.
  • Ability to work with young, sick, and physically challenged people.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bilingual desired.

Working Conditions

  • Manual: Some manual skills/motor coordination and finger dexterity.
