Animal Husbandry Technician

Thermo Fisher Scientific is seeking a highly skilled Animal Husbandry Technician to join our team in Benson, VT. As a key member of our animal care team, you will be responsible for ensuring the health and well-being of our sheep herd.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Carry out daily feeding regimes and provide high-quality care to all animals on the farm
  • Administer routine and non-routine animal treatments as needed
  • Participate in animal sorting, movement, and herding between farm sites
  • Assist in breeding and lambing programs to ensure successful reproduction
  • Maintain all housing buildings to USDA standards and ensure a safe working environment
  • Work closely with the Attending Veterinarian to ensure the highest level of animal care
  • Record and maintain accurate daily records of animal care and treatment
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Knowledge and experience working with livestock, particularly sheep
  • Knowledge and experience with breeding and lambing programs
  • Valid driving license required
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize workloads
  • Attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
